How We Activated the Minecraft Movie Moment for Nescafé, Kwality Wall's and McDonald's
On 4 April 2025, A Minecraft Movie opened in cinemas. It made $301 million worldwide in its first weekend, the biggest opening ever for a video-game adaptation, and teenagers made up 35% of its opening audience (eMarketer).
For brands chasing young India, it was the cultural moment of the summer. Globally, McDonald's, Oreo and others built partnerships around the film. In India, McDonald's launched a Minecraft Movie Meal and gave stores in West and South India a full Minecraft makeover (exchange4media).
But the film was only the spark. The audience's real home was Minecraft itself, and the creators they watch play it every night. That is where StreamO took three brands at once.
Why Minecraft works for brands
Minecraft is Gen Z's and Gen Alpha's favourite sandbox: creative, safe and community-driven. Everything is built from blocks, so a brand can literally be built into the world. And because players already spend their sessions building, exploring and playing mini-games, a brand challenge feels like more of the game, not an interruption to it.
The film was only the spark. The audience's real home was Minecraft itself.

Nescafé: Brewing Buzz in Blocks
The brief: make Nescafé's café-style cold coffee matter to Gen Z (16 to 25) in a gaming-first world, cut through beverage clutter and tie into a cultural tentpole.
The idea: reposition cold coffee from a drink to a cool-down ritual during high-intensity play.
What we did:
- A launch-day spike event. On 4 April, the day the film opened and an IPL match was on, seven creators came together for a live curated stream anchored by one of India's biggest Minecraft creators. They played three branded mini-games: a Café Build Battle, Hide and Seek and Bed Wars. The anchor stream passed 1.3 million views with a 10.74% CTR, the campaign's highest.
- Immersive Minecraft integration. Custom Nescafé x Minecraft artwork ran natively inside gameplay across 50+ livestreams.
- IRL Just Chatting streams. 25+ creators drank Nescafé Iced Latte live in a “let's sip while we talk” format, averaging a 7.18% CTR.
- Visi-coolers on set. Branded coolers sat in creators' setups, becoming part of the daily stream background.
- Social amplification. Reels and stories carried the moment from streams to feeds.
The result: 100+ creators across 15+ states, 15M+ reach across immersive and IRL formats, and 100K+ clicks. Regional creators spoke to their communities in their own languages, not in subtitles.

Kwality Wall's: Crafted for Fun
The brief: make Kwality Wall's the treat Minecraft fans crave, from the first build of the summer to the last bite of an ice candy.
The idea: turn vanilla blocks into brand stories. From 28 March to 30 April 2025, Kwality Wall's entered Minecraft with a simple, summer-sized offer on screen: win from 30 lakh free ice candies.
What we did:
- In-game brand integration. Custom Kwality Wall's artwork appeared inside Minecraft gameplay four times an hour, across 50+ YouTube Live channels.
- Gameplay shout-outs. Creators called out the brand and the offer in the middle of their builds, in their own words.
- IRL Just Chatting with product consumption. Creators unpacked Twister and Boom Boom ice candies on camera and tasted them live with their fans. The top three IRL videos drew 353K, 309K and 249K views.
- A creator mix built for reach and relatability. Marquee Minecraft creators sat alongside women gamers and vernacular creators streaming in their own languages.
The result: 3.75 million+ live impressions, 5 million+ completed views and 7,371+ display instances, with an average of 508.7 live viewers per stream and 100% viewability. The campaign was built for Gen Z and millennials aged 18 to 34.

McDonald's: Minecraft as a McDonald's playground
To support the Minecraft Movie Meal, StreamO turned Minecraft into a McDonald's playground. Creators played in branded worlds, walked viewers through ordering on the app and ate the meal on stream. The campaign ran across 33 creators, delivering 4Mn+ impressions and a 2.55% CTR.
Several brands, one moment.
What the Minecraft moment teaches
- Ride the culture, live in the game. The film created the wave. The game is where the audience actually spent their time.
- Build, don't just place. In a world made of blocks, the best brand integrations are ones players can build, explore or win.
- Go wide and go local. A mix of marquee creators, women gamers and regional voices gave both scale and depth.
- Several brands, one moment. A single cultural tentpole can carry different brands with different jobs: a coffee as a cool-down, an ice candy as a summer reward, a meal as a game-night order.
Pop culture moments come every few months. The brands that win are the ones that know where the audience will be when they arrive.
