YouTube Live: the biggest stage

YouTube is the largest livestreaming platform in the world. During the 2026 FIFA World Cup final it hit an all-time high of 36.06 million concurrent viewers (Streams Charts). Gaming is a growing share of it, up from 11.3% to 14.5% of YouTube's live watch time in a single quarter.

Gaming streams on YouTube also sit next to everything else a viewer does there: Shorts, music, cricket, long-form video. A creator can hook viewers with a Short and bring them into a livestream on the same channel.

For brands: the default choice in India. It's where India's gaming creators and their audiences already are, and India is YouTube Gaming's third-largest market by watch time (Tubefilter).

Twitch is smaller but almost entirely about games: 76.9% of its watch time is gaming.

Twitch: the gaming specialist

Twitch is smaller but almost entirely about games: 76.9% of its watch time is gaming. It leads in esports and PC titles like League of Legends and Counter-Strike, and its audience skews Western. Twitch also lifted its ban on multi-streaming, so top creators can now go live on Twitch and YouTube at the same time.

For brands: strong for global campaigns, esports and PC gaming. Smaller in India.

Kick: the fast riser

Kick has grown for three straight quarters, to 2.04 billion hours. Its pitch to creators is money: a 95/5 subscription split. Its audience centres on Just Chatting and GTA V. Streams Charts has flagged unusual audience patterns on some top channels, so treat its numbers with care.

For brands: worth watching, not yet a priority for India. Brand-safety review is essential.

Follow the creator, not the platform.

What this means for Indian brands

  1. Start with YouTube. It's where the audience and the creators already are.

  2. Follow the creator, not the platform. With multi-streaming allowed, the same creator may be live in more than one place. Buy the creator's audience.

  3. Watch TikTok LIVE and Kick abroad. They matter if you're planning beyond India.

  4. Judge platforms on attention, not just hours. The question isn't only how many hours a platform has, but how much of that time your brand can be part of.

StreamO is YouTube-first for exactly these reasons, with Twitch joining the platform as we expand beyond India.
